The film might work as Eastwood’s contemplation as to how death connects
all humanity, in more ways than one. Also, the fact that the director
is in the twilight of his life and how the film seems to treat death
with such matter-of-factly lack of design adds a hint of "courage in the
face of one’s own mortality” to the overbearing and near-repetitive
discussion on death and all its various facets in the film. The plots of
the tired psychic from San Francisco, the tsunami survivor from Paris,
and the grieving kid from London intertwine clumsily, extending
themselves to utmost redundancy before proving the point that there’s
