BIOGRAFI ANGGUN
CIPTA SASMI :Anggun (born in Jakarta, 29
April 1974, age 34 years) is Indonesian
singer who now has French citizenship. Until now, he is still the only
Indonesian singer who broke through the world music market. He currently
lives in Paris, France and Montreal, Canada to continue his
international career. Until 2005, he has successfully sold 3 million
copies internationalnya albums worldwide, making it the most successful
Asian artist outside Asia.
Early life and
career in IndonesiaAnggun is the daughter
of the couple Darto Singo, an Indonesian artist,
with Dien Herdina, a lady housewife bloody Sultan Palace. Anggun
essentially educated at a Catholic school in Jakarta, although Anggun is
a Muslim. Elegant living in a family full of art. Since the age of 7
years old galvanized Anggun vocal exercises every day by his father.

catapulted Anggun name. Anggun new name really rocketed in 1990, after
releasing the album-titled single dream, followed Tua Tua Keladi and
Fear of the great success in the market and jump-start as a rock singer
Anggun's top teen. Anggun was awarded "Most Popular Artist Indonesia
1990-1991". Anggun then launched his second album, White Kids Abu Abu
(1991), and then Nocturno (1992), Anggun C. Sasmi ... Lah! (1993), and
the last Lost (1994). At age 19, Anggun has also successfully
established his own record company, PT Bali Cipta Records to release her
albums. In Indonesia, Anggun has sold more than 5 million copies of his
albums up to that point. Making it one of the most popular rock singer
in the era of the early 1990s.
The struggle
towards an international careerIn 1992, Anggun married
young with Michel de Ghea, a French citizen.
Anggun met with Michel during a tour to Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan.
In 1994, Anggun determined to realize his dream as an international
artist. After selling the record company, Anggun moved to Europe with
her husband and leave all the popularity it has in
Indonesia.
Gracefully settled in London, England for a
year. While in England
Anggun diligently sending demo tapes to various studios in the UK. In

living in London. Anggun had to accept disappointment when all the demo

But then, Anggun finally cancel his intention to the Netherlands and
decided to settle down and start a career in
France.
In 1996, Anggun finally managed to meet with
Erick Benzi, one of the
great French producer who once worked with a number of albums of famous
singers such as Celine Dion, Jean-Jacques Goldman, Johnny Hallyday and
others. Benzi was captivated by the vocal ability Anggun, and offered
him a solo album recorded in France. After studying French at Alliance
Français for a month, and Benzi Anggun began recording the
album.
After recording was complete, Sony Music
France was interested and as a
recording artist Anggun recruit them. Not only that, Anggun was
contracted in two albums, the album speak French and English-language
album.
Au Nom de la Lune, Snow on the
Sahara, and international successJune 24,
1997 is a sacred date for when his first album Anggun Au Nom de
la Lune (In the Name of the Moon) released into the French market.
Anggun's first single, "La Neige au Sahara", captured the hearts of
music enthusiasts France even to Belgium, Switzerland, and Canada. The
single was recorded as the most frequently played songs on radio
stations France in 1997 and became one of the Summer Hits '97. The album
that contains elements of pop plus the sounds of traditional Indonesian
instruments (drum, flute, hazelnut) are successfully reaping huge
success with sales of more than 150,000 copies in France, making
Indonesia one of the nation's first artist who managed to put a name
parallel to the French artists who have .
The next
year, Anggun launched its first English language album, Snow on
the Sahara. The album was released in over 33 countries in Europe,
Asia, and America. Especially for Japan, Indonesia and Malaysia, the
album was released in a special edition titled Anggun (In Indonesia,
accompanied by a single called "Return"). Single Snow on the Sahara was
instantly become big hits. The single was floated almost all of the
charts in Europe during 1998 to 1999. [2] The single had reached
position 1 in Italy, Spain and several countries in East Asia. In
Europe, the single was even captured the Top 5 on the UK Club Charts,
UK.
In the United States, Snow on the Sahara was
released in May, 1998 by
Epick Record. Anggun gait in the United States began when he appeared on
TV shows Rosie O'Donnell Show. Anggun also appeared in the New York
West 54th Session and shelled a number of media including CNN,
Billboard, and Rollingstone. Anggun was also invited by Sarah McLachlan
to perform at Lilith Fair stage, women's music festivals around the
United States and became the only Asian singer who had the honor of
appearing on the show Divas Live in Las Vegas. Nevertheless, Snow on the
Sahara did not achieve significant success in the U.S. and sold 200,000
copies alone. However, Anggun managed to make history by becoming the
first Asian artist to penetrate the Billboard charts at position # 16
(followed seven years later by Utada Hikaru). While the album Snow on
the Sahara itself is at position # 23 Billboard Heat Seekers
Charts.
Snow on the Sahara album has successfully
achieved a number of platinum
in several countries with total sales exceeding 1 million copies
worldwide, making Anggun as an Asian artist with album sales of the
highest outside of Asia (the record is still held Anggun until today).
Snow on the Sahara Anggun is also the most successful albums throughout
his career.
Désirs Contraires,
ChrysalisIn 1999, Anggun officially
divorced by Michel de Ghea. In September,
2000, Anggun released her second album titled Désirs Contraires (French
version) and Chrysalis (English version). Anggun's second album is still
produced Erick Benzi and Anggun wrote all the lyrics speak English
teacher. On this album, Anggun sponsor the first single "Still Reminds
Me" for the international market and "Un geste D'amour" for France. For
the Southeast Asia market, Anggun also released the single in Indonesian
language entitled "The Me Wait". The single "Still Reminds Me" and then
managed to occupy the Top 5 in The Music & Media Europe Brokers
Breakers Charts and peaked Asian United Chart for several weeks.
Unfortunately, Chrysalis was not released in the United States despite
the "Still Reminds Me" in some American radio broadcasts. Nevertheless,
this second album still multiplatinum albums and sold more than 1
million copies (in Italy successfully won the Gold in a
week).
At the end of 2000, Anggun received an
invitation to perform at the
Vatican Christmas concert with Bryan Adams. In 2001, Anggun held its
first tour around Europe and Asia. Anggun's first concert begins at Le
Bataclan, France on February 1, 2001 and ends at the Kallang Theatre,
Singapore on 30 April 2001.
Open Hearts, and
the era of collaborationIn 2002, Anggun
released the album Open Hearts which is the original
soundtrack from the film "Open Hearts", directed by Denmark, Susanne
Bier. This album also became Anggun's second album which was released in
the United States, although it unfortunately failed in the U.S. market.
This album's first single, "Open Your Heart" was nominated for "Best
Song" at the Danish Movie Awards 2003, and the Academy Awards. In
addition to Open Hearts, before Anggun also contributed a song called
"Rain" for the soundtrack of the Dutch film, "Anja and Viktor"
(2001).
During 2001 to 2003 Anggun also involved many
collaborations, including a
duet with DJ Cam in a jazz song "Summer in Paris" on the album
"Soulshine" (2001). Then collaboration with Deep Forest on track
bercengkok Sunda, "Deep Blue Sea" on the album "Music Detected" (2002).
In 2003, Anggun also did a duet with the famous Italian rock singer,
Piero Pelu in a single titled "Amore Immaginato". The single had topped

with Anggun and Tri Yann Serge Lama in 2003.
In
2002, Anggun was awarded "The Cosmopolitan Asia Women Award". Then
"The Women Inspire Award 'as a singer who inspires the entire Asian

Luminescence and Best
OfAfter nearly five years of not releasing
a studio album, Anggun returned

English was released with the same title. The first single for the
French edition of "être une Femme" was released earlier than his albums

also elected as the soundtrack to the movie The Transporter 2 and became
hits in Russia, Greece, and Italy. Anggun's third album is no longer
handled Erick Benzi. On this album, Anggun has joined the illustrious
names in French music world such as Jean-Pierre Taieb, Lionel Florence,
Evelyn Kraal, and Jean Faque. This album is outstanding in all European
countries, Canada, Japan, Middle East, and Southeast Asia. In June 2006,
Anggun also held a massive concert in Jakarta with the headline
"Concert For Affairs" which is packed with up to 5,000 visitors.

The next year, Anggun released titled
luminescence luminescence
repackage edition - Special Edition. In this edition, Anggun insert
three new songs. Newest single, I'll Be Alright has also played on the
radio Indonesia when her video clip recorded secretly in Jakarta and
Bali in Indonesia Anggun as to the success of the concert. A photo book
is included with every purchase Anggun album.
In
2005, Anggun received a prestigious award, "Chevalier des Arts et
Lettres" from the French Ministry of Culture on career achievements and
contributions to French culture throughout the world. Anggun also
received a special award from Anugerah Music Indonesia (AMI Awards) 2006
as "Best International Artist". Typical grace was given for its success
in carving a name out of the country and raise the name of Indonesia
and Asian music industry in the eyes of the world. Anggun is also chosen
as a spokesman for the UN program "Microcredit Scheme" and became an
icon and brand ambassador for Audemars Piguet, a company of Swiss luxury
watches.
Marking 20 years of his career in the music
world, Anggun released her
Best Of album at the end of 2006. On this album, besides featuring a
number of hits during his international career, Anggun also rearranging

the personnel), DJ Laurent Wolf and Big Ali. The first single from the
album namely "Si Tu L'avoues" for the French market, "Crazy" for the
international market, and "So Yours" for the Indonesian
market.
Personal
lifeGraceful young married to Michael de
Gea, a French citizen in 1992. It
is said that marriage was not approved by the family because of the huge
age difference. Together with Michel, Anggun then moved to Europe to
realize his dream. The couple then settled in London (since 1995), then
in Paris. Unfortunately after 7 years, the marriage foundered in
1999.
In 2003, Anggun met with Olivier Maury, a
scholar of Canadian politics.
This relationship continues to the next level of marriage in the year
through a simple ceremony in Bali. Maury later became his manager.
However, since mid-2006 their relationship also ended in
divorce.
Since 8 November 2007, Anggun blessed with a
daughter named Kirana of
its relationship with Cyril Montana. [12], a French
writer.
